Laetatus Sum is one of two settings of the 121st Psalm made by Porpora for the girls at the Conservatorio dellOspedaletto at Venice. During his various sojourns in Venice, between the years 1737-1747, Porpora was director of the “Ospedeli della Pietá” and girl inmates of these famous Venetian orphanges. The manuscript which is the basis of this edition was used by courtesy of the Music Division, New York Public Library.
