Violin and Guitar

Description

Niccol Paganini’s (1782-1840) lovely Sonata Concertata for Guitar and Violin, Op. 61, MS 2, written in 1803, is more reminiscent of Mozart or Haydn rather than the Paganini of his 24 Caprices or Violin Concerto No. 2. The work is very much a proper duet between the violin and guitar, with use of call-and-response sections and standalone sections for each instrument. Reprint of guitarist Erwin Schwarz-Reiflingen’s (1891-1964) edition. Movements: I. Allegro spiritoso; II. Adagio assai espressivo; III. Rondeau.
