This Middle C position solo, written in 3/4 meter, uses E-flat in the right hand and A-flat and B-flat in the left hand to create the key of C minor. The melody is mostly single line divided between both hands, but there are measures where both hands play together. The changing dynamics, use of accents and the lyrics (along with the key) help to create the mood of this piece. The optional teacher duet adds to the mood with its chromatic line low on the keyboard.
